Tom Baker is 90!
Some of you might be asking… who? And you’d be right. Doctor Who’s 4th doctor celebrated his 90th birthday yesterday. I want to wish you a very happy birthday Tom, and thank you for all you have done for Doctor Who fans, and the Science Fiction audience the world over for decades.
Here is a short clip that shows Tom Baker meeting uo with Matt Smith in the museum.

Productivity Update
I am still using Habitica to carry on gamifying my life. However, since I was not well enough to complete all my daily tasks each day this week, I have dropped a level, lost 70 gold coins, and even broken a piece of equipment. My little green man now no longer has a hat. This week I plan on completing all my tasks as I get stronger and healthier, and regain my hat, and more health point, gold, and experience. I have been invited to join a crew to work together in the game, and go on a quest to beat a big boss. I’m not 100% sure how it works, but it sounds really good, and it’s free, so I’m going to give it a go 🙂
Have you tried Habitica yet?
I got invited onto a Podcast.
Not all things are what they seem.
I was invited to go on a podcast, and was absolutely thrilled at the possibility. However, when I started talking to the interviewer it soon became evident that he wanted me to pay to be on his show, so I have decided not to. Just be careful out there folks… as my writing coach says, there are sharks everywhere.
Have you experienced a problem with a shark?
Health Update
I am slowly getting better from the chest virus which hit myself and my wife over the New Year, and have even been able to go for a walk for a couple of miles. I am still coughing, and walking rather slowly, but I’m doing it, yay.
In an effort to have a healthier happier new year, we have downloaded an app called Yuka to zap barcodes and find out if food is good for you, and were quite surprised today when we went shopping just how much stuff is not as healthy as e first thought. What this does mean is that we have been able to find healthier alternatives, just by zapping barcodes with our phones.
This month, I have decided to follow the advice from the book Potatoes not Prozac, which talks about sugar sensitivity, and yesterday marks the first day of no sugar, or bread. I will keep you all updated along my journey 🙂
Are you on a health kick? What apps do you use?
Writing – Time Clones Book 2 exciting news.
Fantastic News: I have completed the first draft of Time Clones 2 with 50,228 words, and celebrated with a pint and a burger.
I also had a great session with my writing coach this week. She’s very into Clifton strengths (a way to test your best character strengths, that analyses which attributes are the best, and lists them in a personalised order, so you can find out what your strengths and weaknesses are, and how you can improve them in future. As I find out more and more about it, I am starting to realise why it matters so much, and it’s really pushing me to start working with my strengths, and improving my weaknesses.
What has happened in your writing life this week?
What am I Reading?
Agent. Mother. Other by Sharna Lee came out on Tuesday 24th Jan 2023, and I grabbed a copy almost immediately. It’s got a great start so far, and I can’t wait to see what happens next. As Usual I have a bibliography card which I am filling out, to remind me what the book is about, which will go into my slipcard system that I am using.
What are you reading?
And in Other news
In other news, I have decided to take Twitter / X seriously, and bought a months subscription of Twitter Pro to see what all the fuss is about. I am actually very happy that I am not plastered with ads, but it also feels good to have the blue checkmark against my name, which shows I have a verified account. Since having this, my follower count has really gone up, and I am currently being followed by 515 people. As well as this, I am learning more about the platform, and really feel it to be more beneficial than Facebook, which hardly gained me ay traction at all last year as an independent Author.
What Social Media are you using (if any) ?
As usual, if you have any questions, or would like to answer any of the questions above, please type here in the comments, or email me brettjackson@brettishbooks.com
That’s all for this week, until next time.
