Hello Time Travellers,
In this weeks Writers Roundup number 7…
I had an interview with a Digital Marketing company to find out how to market my business.
Thanks to a Facebook ad, I found an opportunity to enrol on a Digital Marketing course, and I am really looking forward to it. This opportunity is open to self-employed people in our local area, so their advert targeting really worked, and I want to be able to take some of that knowledge so that I can reach more readers.
I created a master index of my Zettelkasten
In order to streamline my knowedlege management system, I checked through the indices of my file method and recreated a new slicker version of the index system. This means I can now save stacks of time.
My wife being the amazing woman she is, completely gets how much information and effort went into making this system, so she bought me a fantastic container with zip up lid and combination lock, to keep all my slip notes in. This things is great, I can now fit over 1300 slip notes including tabbed index cards, and this creates great scope and expansion for my current system. Thanks wifey 🙂
How is your organisation system going?
More Book edits, taking me up to page 53
Great news folks, I have now successfully edited over 25% of Time Clones 2. Editing is not the easiest part of writing to keep exciting. Can you imagine the conversations now?
“So Brett, what did you do today?”
“Er… I edited more of my book”.
“Oh, so just like yesterday, and last week, and the week before.”
So, to make it less ho-hum and more wooo, I decided to create an editing accountability calendar. This is now on the sidebar of the website, so that it keeps me accountable, and gives you, the reader, a chance to view my current progress at a glance.

I discovered a really cool way to keep notes whilst reading.
A couple of notes ago, I whipped out my iPad and started to read, but found myself wanting to make notes at night-time with the lights off… so no chance to use my index cards to do this. Instead, I opened the notes app on my iPad, and put them side by side. Having the ruler present on the kindle app was a great way to concentrate on where I was reading, as well as remembering my place whilst typing notes into the notes app. Lastly I finished off by changing the kindle settings by enabling continuous scrolling. This easy to configure and use setup is great. I can still read, and make notes at almost the same time, in the dark, without having to worry about losing my space. Yay
I have also decided to use the Goodreads app to make my reading more accountable.
Feel free to share ways you like to read, and any hacks you use to increase your note-taking experience.
Things 3 update.
This incredibly todo app that I talked in my last Writers Roundup is vastly running out of its trial period, and you know what… I have decided to bite the bullet and invest. Being able to have all my tasks, projects and more in the one app really is a no-brainer, and I can’t wait to become even more productive after it becomes official.
If you want to try things 3, there is an official trial download link below.

I have decided to go back to reading Atomic Habits.
This great little book is all about how you can make micro-habits become a way of life, and a chance to propel your business forward.
What are you reading right now?
Health
The no sugar, no bread diet is going well, and whilst a lot of my aches and pains are going, the biggest thing I have noticed is how well I seem to be losing weight. I have lost over half a stone in just under a month, yay 🙂 On the flip side, I still haven’t heard anything about my ADHD referral, but that’s okay, because patience is my strong suit.
That’s all for this week, if you have any questions, or would like to answer any of the questions above, please type here in the comments, or email me brettjackson@brettishbooks.com
Until next time, happy reading 🙂
– Brett
