2020 Review – This year, in a nutshell.

Posted on 31 December 2020 by Brett Jackson

Writing
This year, I have thrown all caution to the wind, and stopped faffing about with writing as a hobby, focusing more with finishing my time travel novel dubbed Project Glenbrook. I have stopped using free programs, apps, and other such non-productive software, and instead chosen to invest in Scrivener (for writing) Pro-Writing Aid (for editing) and Vellum (for formatting).
BrettishBooks.com became a reality, and so did my twitter, Facebook, and YouTube channels.
Signing up to the Copywriting and Proofreading course was also one of the things I did since September this year, and has really made a difference. The course is ten modules, and so far I have completed Modules 1, 2, and 3. This is ongoing.
I’ve joined a few writing groups, including Writing Squad on Twitter, the Next Level Authors with my friend and best-selling author Daniel Willcocks, (collaborating with Sacha Black) and also become a part of The Villainous Society on Discord. Being able to spend time with writers on zoom has really opened my eyes, into lots of great learning, including hints and tips, great reads, and lots more.

Work
Work has been crazy since COVID-19 arrived, and we all went into lockdown in March earlier this year. Keeping a Covid diary / journal has really helped to get the massive amounts of information from the media which completely overran my brain, out of my brain onto paper. This helped me to keep more control of my writing habit. It means that writing has come back into focus, and I have really cracked on with writing as a career, not just a hobby.

Christmas
It was a quiet one this year, much like everyone else’s due to Covid restrictions. New Years celebrations include a glass of wine, and some board games whilst watching the Jean-Michel Jarre concert to see in the new year.

What are my goals for 2021
My plans include:
– Finishing my book, and publishing it.
– Setting up BrettishBooks as a business.
– Writing the diary of our trek on the Camino in 2019
– Writing a poetry book, and publishing it.
– Starting a few more books.

So, that’s my review for 2020, and all I really have to say is… Thankyou to everyone who carrie on supporting me, and I want to wish you all a safe and Happy New Year.
